About Wami

Built for communities.

Wami exists because the best things in your city are temporary, and nobody was keeping track of them.

Our Mission

Make the temporary findable.

A truck parks for four hours. A pop up runs for one afternoon. A fireworks show happens once. These are the moments a city is actually made of, and they were invisible unless you happened to walk past.

Wami puts every one of them on a living map, so the people who would have loved them can find them in time. That is the whole company. People finding people.

Our Story A food truck at work on a city street

It started with a truck we couldn't find.

A vendor with the best food in the neighborhood, posting their location to a social account almost nobody followed, hoping the right people would scroll at the right hour.

Meanwhile hundreds of neighbors two blocks away had no idea they were there. Both sides wanted exactly the same thing and neither could reach the other. That gap is a solved problem for restaurants with an address, and a daily problem for every business that moves.

Wami started in Baltimore because that is home, and because a city this walkable and this full of independent vendors is the right place to prove it.

Our Philosophy

What Wami will never do.

Most apps are designed to keep you looking at them. Wami is designed to get you out the door.

🚫

No endless feeds

The map ends where your neighborhood ends. When you have seen what is out tonight, you are done. There is no infinite scroll here because there is nothing to farm.

🔢

No follower counts

Nobody is building an audience on Wami. People have no follower numbers at all, so there is no clout to chase and no reason to perform for anyone.

🤝

Real communities

You follow vendors, not people. Your connection to a neighbor is that you both love the same taco truck and were both at the fireworks. Shared place, not friend requests.

Privacy

The map never shows you.

This is the promise the whole product depends on, so we will be blunt about it.

🛡

Never individuals

Wami shows vendors, events and community energy. It has never shown and will never show where a specific person is.

Check ins are chosen

Nothing happens in the background. A check in is a deliberate tap, made while standing at a vendor who is live.

🔒

Vendors see counts

Businesses get numbers, timing and location performance. They never get your identity, and we never sell it.
